Polk Somebody recently asked me what I enjoyed the most about RVing. It didn’t take long for me to respond that it was the people you meet at the campground. I don’t know of anywhere else that you can meet complete strangers and within a couple of hours feel as if you’ve known them forever. People at campgrounds are some of the friendliest most helpful people you will ever meet. I have seen it time and again when a camper pulls in and they are having problems with something and their next door neighbor, whom they never met, is right there to assist them. I have also observed and assisted several campers who were new to RVing and not really sure how to set their unit up when they arrive at the campground. While talking to these new Rvers it came up more than once how they wished that they had a checklist to follow to make things easier. However most RVs do have many things in common and that is what we will concentrate on.

The house battery solenoid needs to be energized all the time while the engine is running. If Possible Use the Fuse Panel to Power Your Solenoid Your vehicle should have a fuse panel under the hood or behind a plastic lid under the dashboard. The male half of the spade terminal will plug right into a vacant fuse slot on most vehicles.
The solenoid you buy might have a 4th connection for a ground. Inverters change the 12 V direct current from the batteries to V alternating current AC used by your appliances. Many electrical devices will state they only require watts. In reality their start up surge will take times more than that. The wiring between the two batteries, and also from the batteries to the inverter, needs to be automotive battery cable size.
Two house batteries connected in parallel in my van Your inverter is a heavy electrical draw. For the batteries to discharge together equally, the cables connecting the batteries to each other and to the inverter should be made with the same type and size of cable.

This would save about 60 lbs, but not much money as the 6 V golf cart batteries are a much in demand item with lower price. I thought about using an AGM battery, but the extra cost does not seem worth it me — I’m used to taking care of flooded batteries and don’t mind adding another. The batteries will live inside the van in a case that is sealed and vented to the outside.

Search A Guide to Living in a Camper Van Living in a camper van or motorhome is a cheap and convenient way to see lots of locations. If you are looking to explore in comfort then it is a great option. I lived in my camper van for 9 months, and loved it. My vehicle was a converted small Mercedes Sprinter which I converted into a camper van.
I spent almost all of my time free camping, with occasional visits to camp sites when in built up areas, and also in rural areas to refresh water supplies and empty toilets, etc. I had no problems at all. I know free camping in these areas is more difficult during June, July and August as the police do not like too many people taking up car parks when there are lots of visitors to the beaches.
My camper van looked like an ordinary van from the outside, and so did not attract much attention. But, If I were going to spend a lot of time living in a vehicle I would consider buying a motorhome as these are more comfortable. But a well converted camper van can be just as comfortable. For a long period of time I would suggest that you have a wash room, with a toilet and perhaps a simple shower.

It is not a guide on how to actually wire up equipment, terminate cables, use a soldering iron etc. It is not recommending which setups are good or bad. The drawings are not wiring diagrams, they are schematics showing topology only.
Camping inverters are a great idea if you want to convert your car lighter plug in of 12v to an output of up to v for charging your phone or running your TV in the caravan. We also stock camping mains for hooking up to mains electric with your caravan or motorhome.
What’s it all about? At home we don’t really think much about power sources and capacities – it’s all there ‘on tap’. In our motorhomes things are rather different, we need a portable and reliable heat source source and while you can ‘have a hook-up’ to mains electricity on site, that may not always be convenient. Vehicles normally rely on 12 volt batteries for mobile power but this just isn’t powerful enough for heating.
For example if you used your battery to run a small 1kW fire for space heating or the same power ring for cooking it would take 85 amps from your leisure battery which would then last only about half an hour before needing a major recharge! It’s convenient and very powerful and since it’s stored under pressure as a liquid you get lots of it in a very small space – so it has become the fuel of choice for most motorcaravanners.
The container is a strong steel bottle, and some portable sizes contain enough gas for several weeks use.

Well, there are 2 major reasons that I can think of off the bat: The reason for this fuel efficiency is 2 fold. Did you know that a diesel engine can have as much as a 2.
Features. The easy way to connect to mains water – simply hook up for a constant water supply without carrying heavy containers or draining your battery.
